Langa, meaning “sun” in Xhosa, is one of the many areas in South Africa that were designated for Black Africans before the apartheid era and now is inhabited by mostly impoverished working class or unemployed people. They spend most of their time on the streets rather in their homes or shacks and despite their hardships you can see that the strong ties among them add grace to a life otherwise defined by poverty.
